600 Hour Curriculum Anatomy and Physiology - 126 Hours Students will gain a sound understanding of the structure and function of the human body. In this course, we study the pathologies that can occur in the different systems especially as they relate to massage. In the Kinesiology part of the course, we learn about several muscles and muscle groups, where they're located and how they move the body. We learn muscles through palpation, drawing, and moving.
Professional Development - 100 Hours This course includes interactive classroom experiences where we explore ethical issues and develop communication skills. Also included are professional relationships, scope of practice, and career preparation designed specifically for Massage Therapists. Students will create a business plan and explore the varied work opportunities available to this profession.
Massage Theory and Techniques - 152 Hours Students begin by learning the basic massage strokes and developing the ability to perform a complete relaxation massage for the healthy adult. This provides the foundation for all other applications. Therapeutic or Medical Massage techniques are then introduced which may provide pain relief and increase range of motion. This allows the therapist to address a variety of client concerns and create an individual plan of care for each person while keeping a holistic focus.
Supplemental Program - 80 Hours These classes offer a wellness series where we explore concepts of holistic health as they relate to clients and also self care for the therapist. Ethics, the first of the Supplemental Classes, is required for graduation. Other Supplemental classes include Hydrotherapy and Introduction to Eastern Concepts.
Student Clinic - 46 Hours In Student Clinic, students work with clients from the public with a skilled supervisor available. This supports the transition from school into a career setting. Students schedule their clinics after successful completion of the first practical exam. We also go out into the community. This is a fun way to increase public awareness of the benefits of massage and increase employment opportunities upon graduation.
Workshop Electives - 96 Hours Workshop electives are provided so students can explore bodywork modalities that are complimentary to massage and may be incorporated in a massage session. This adds to the eclectic approach of our program, and allows students to expand their coursework in areas of their particular interest. |
