Our faculty is a group of well educated, creative individuals that inspire students to learn and keep the classroom interactive. Those teaching the Theory and Technique Course and all Clinic Supervisors are experienced in the field of Massage and Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

Each Instructor has their own style and brings a fun and challenging experience to the classroom. They provide the material in a variety of ways to address the varied learning styles of students.

 School Director

Nancy Levitt 

Nancy graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1988, and from Massage Therapy School in 1992. She became the Director of Lakewood School in 1997 when the school was founded. She has served on various committees including an Ethics workgroup for the former AMTA Council of Schools and school outreach panel for the National Certification Board. She has been and is currently involved in the legislative process for the licensure of Massage Therapists in Michigan.

Instructor, Student Clinic  Supervisor

Tammy received her Massage Therapy training at Lakewood School and was a Graduate Assistant at Lakewood for two years.  Tammy's training beyond her graduation in 2001 from Lakewood includes continuing education coursework in Cranial Sacral and Lymphatic Drainage work at the Upledger Institute, and  Polarity I & II from Polarity Institute of MI.

Kim Older

Kim has a background in sales and marketing and is also a Lakewood graduate from the class of 1999. She has been a member of the school’s professional advisory board and an advocate for the school. She also works at Port Huron Hospital as a massage therapist.


Bookkeeper
Cheri Quinn

 

Cheri was the bookkeeper for Lakewood School in 2005 and 2006. She returned to Lakewood in December 2010. She has 14 years of bookkeeping experience. We are glad to have her back on our staff.

 Instructor, Placement Coordinator

 

Carol is a 2002 graduate of Lakewood School and has been practicing as a Massage Therapist ever since. She concentrates her applications in the areas of Swedish Massage, Therapeutic Technique, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone Therapy. She is a certified Pre & Peri-natal Massage Therapist and practices as a Professional Labor Assistant, utilizing her massage background and doula training she gained through the Association of Labor Assistants & Childbirth Educators (ALACE). She has a strong business background, with over fifteen years of practical experience and training.

Student Clinic Supervisor

 

Karen received her Massage Therapy training at Lakewood School and was a graduate in the Class of June 1998. Karen owns and operates her own practice, Healing Hands, in Yale, MI. She has taken additional training in the areas of Myofascial Release I, Polarity, Introductory Shiatsu, Acupressure Facials, Aromatherapy, and Mind Body Approaches. Additionally, Karen maintains her membership in AMTA.

Instructor

Lisa is a 2008 graduate of Lakewood and completed an Oncology Massage Course after her graduation. She came to the school with a solid background in biology and business. She currently teaches our Kinesiology and Anatomy Courses and has been taking CE courses in teaching technique and integrated stretching.

Admissions Representative, Office Assistant

Jessica Proctor

Jessica joined the admissions staff at Lakewood School in April 2011. She comes to Lakewood with eight years of admissions experience and also has a background in motivational and public speaking. We welcome her to the Lakewood School Staff.
